Ah, the 80s! This could be really fun to do an update on a classic throwback song, with some fun references to the culture, like the Harlequin romance novel covers of the period (I remember seeing those in the grocery store checkout line).
Any of these compositions could work, just focus on the visual journey (movement), and a value structure to support it. So as you refine the thumbnail, do at least 3-4 full value studies in ink or digital, so you know where the light, dark, and midtones need to be. You'll also need good reference, so start thinking about models & costumes ASAP. The comp sketches will be easier if you already have good photo scrap to work from.
I love your sketches! Please oh PLEASE have them on a horse in stereotypical 80s outfits (leg warmers, scrunchies, mullet, etc). As far as iterations go, I think it’s hard to read the text on the bottom ones. That might be okay, but I think keeping it as legible and as visible as possible is good, so people can remember the name of the song/album/artist.
